Despite the fact that many people are rather frivolous about creating a user account in the Windows operating system, this process has several key features and nuances that should ensure not only correct access to their data, but also help prevent possible unauthorized access to it. And it is about the process of creating new users that will be discussed in this article.

The Windows 10 operating system offers two types of accounts - these are local accounts that are not tied to Microsoft services, and Microsoft accounts that use the corresponding email (account) of this company.
You can carry out your plan in several ways / options, among which there are standard tools that you can’t deal with, and there are more interesting ones, like a command line console.
The main thing in solving this issue is to decide which type of account is most preferable to you. The first type, as previously indicated, is a local account, which is most suitable for those who prefer local use of the operating system.
That is, there is one computer and all manipulations in the operating system, including actions carried out with other Microsoft programs, are localized to this PC.
The second type is a Microsoft account, which allows you to maximize the use of all products of the company and interconnect devices for synchronization. For example, having two computers with a licensed Windows 10 system, and using a Microsoft account, you can start working with the file on one computer, and continue from exactly the same place on the other. How to Create a New User
There are several ways to create an account that have a similar procedure and do not differ in high complexity.
Solution 1
The simplest (for novice users), it’s the main way to resolve the issue under consideration, the option using the available settings in the “Options” section, for this:
- Click on the “Start” button and open the “Settings” - “Accounts” section;
- Open "Family & other users" and in the "Other users" section, click on the "+" button;
- In the next step, you will be prompted to enter the Microsoft email address (to create the Microsoft account mentioned above), if this is the option that suits you, enter the address and click next.
It should be noted that, using a Microsoft account, you should pay attention to the "Family" section, where you can create users with a clear division of powers.
- If you plan to create a local account, you should click on the line "I don't have this person's sign-in information";
- At the next stage, the system will re-offer to create a new user by linking it to a Microsoft account, you will need to click on "Add user without a Microsoft account";
- Enter the “Name” of the user to be created and set a password for logging in, which is highly recommended if several people use the computer;
- The created user will appear in the previously opened section marked "Local Account".
- All that remains is to log in to the account, wait for the desktop to complete loading, and use the available functionality as you wish.
Solution 2
A faster option for implementation is to use the capabilities of the command line console, for this:
- Press the key combination “WIN + S”, enter “cmd.exe” in the search bar and select “Run as administrator”;
- In the command prompt that opens, enter and execute the command “netuser“ name ”password/add”, where in quotation marks write the username and the password next to it, for example: netuser “JOB” 123456789 /add
- After executing this command, a new user will be created with the specified authorization data.
Solution 3
You can also create a user using the “Local Users and Groups” section, which is characterized by a longer process, but also by a more expanded functional set, namely:
- Press the key combination “WIN + R” and execute the command «lusrmgr.msc»;
- In the window that opens, go to the "Users" folder and right-click on an empty area of the window, then select "New User" in the menu that opens;
- Fill in all the fields provided and check the additional parameters of the account you create for you.
Then close the settings window and log in to the created account.
How to Add Administrator Rights
It is worth noting that the above actions will lead to the fact that a regular local account will be created (it also has a “limited set of privileges), which is not endowed with the administrator rights that are necessary for most tasks.
Based on the indicated options, there are three additional ways to increase the rights for the created user:
Using Solution 1: After creating an account, click on it while in the "Family and other users" section, and then select "Change account type". A small window will open where you can select "Standard user" or "Administrator", and finally click on the "OK" button.
Using Solution 2: In the command line console, enter and run the command “netlocalgroup Administrators name / add”, where instead of “name” specify the username (account), or use the command “net local group Administrators name / add” if the first option did not work.
Using Solution 3: Being in the “Local Users and Groups” window, click on the mouse to create the user and open its “Properties”.
Go to the “Membership in groups” tab and pay attention to the “Add” button. “Select Groups” window will open, where you should enter the name of the“ Administrator” in the “Enter the object names to select” box, after which you will only have to click on “OK” button (twice) to save the changes.
Conclusion
There is another less popular option, which is the execution of the command “control userpasswords2”, followed by the standard form for creating a new “limited” (until the assignment of the type of “administrator”) user.
Regardless of which methods you decide to use, special attention should be paid to creating a password and correct hints to it, in case the correct combination is lost or forgotten. This, at a minimum, prevents most of the most common attempts to gain unauthorized access.
